In early 2021, I mentioned to my aunt that I was considering creating a scenario of some sort that involved people suggesting songs for me to cover. She really liked the idea. I asked what song she would suggest. Her answer was immediate. She told me the story of how my uncle asked her to join him at his computer, gave her the chair, and played Garth Brook's rendition of "Make You Feel My Love" by Bob Dylan. Her emotions poured through the phone as she remembered that night. She didn't know, but I knew that no matter what I had to create my own cover for her.
This is actually the first recording I have created that uses sounds from Free To Use Sounds. They provided the oceans of Cyprus as the backdrop. That was the first track I created, and I believe was inspired by my uncle, who passed several years ago. My aunt lives on Long Island, where she and my uncle enjoyed going to the beach. Knowing their love for each other, it was an easy inspiration to accept into the arrangement.
My aunt received this song late in 2021. With her blessing, I now offer it to you.
The artwork was completed in September 2022. I felt it necessary to play off the ocean backdrop in the recording. Initially, I tried to create the image entirely from my mind. I soon came to realize how truly important the reference pics I often use are. My color palette was WAY off. Here's the side-by-side of the first and the final versions.
